“Everything you attract into your life is a reflection of the story you believe and keep telling yourself.” — Farshad Asl

Life is self-reflective.

It gives us back what we think, say, and feel about ourselves, our environment, and our circumstances. In large part, we experience what we continually tell ourselves and others about these things.

Language is power—often in ways more literal than most people realize. We can harness this power to transform our reality through our energy, attitude, and will.

Now that you know how I see the world, let’s dive a little deeper into these ideas.

If we ask Google about the origins of the word “abracadabra,” it provides this explanation:

Tracing its roots back to the third century AD, abracadabra is believed to have originated from the ancient Aramaic language spoken in Mesopotamia, where the phrase ‘avra kedabra’ was used, which translates to ‘I create as I speak.’

This concept, while ancient, still holds relevance today. But let me clarify: do I believe that if I shout, “I am a lottery winner!” and say “abracadabra,” the money or the winning lottery ticket will magically appear on my desk? I just tried—and guess what? It didn’t happen.

However, what I can do is align my words, thoughts, and feelings to claim my right to abundance in all its forms. I can use the power of language to reflect what I truly desire and who I aim to be into my life.

When we choose to label ourselves with our words, it’s important to consider the following:

Choose Something You Can Control

The labels we use to describe ourselves and others can shape identity and behavior. For instance, saying “I am a learner” instead of “I am bad at _______” fosters a growth mindset. Labels can either limit us or open up new possibilities, depending on how we choose to identify with them.

Choose to Describe the End Result

Focus on the outcome you want, rather than the challenges. When you say, “I am a successful business owner” or “I am strong,” you are mentally and emotionally aligning yourself with your desired result, not just the process. This shift in focus—from what’s wrong to what you want to achieve—helps guide your thoughts, actions, and energy toward that positive outcome. By speaking the result into existence, you pave the way for progress and open yourself to possibilities you may not have otherwise seen.

Choose language that creates a new reality

Language has the power to imagine and create new realities. Think of inventions, social movements, or personal visions for the future. It starts with the language we use to describe an idea, set a goal, or call for change. What we verbalize often becomes the blueprint for future action.

The language we use, whether positive or negative, plays a major role in shaping how we perceive the world.

Our brains respond to the words we choose, using that information to either find solutions or close ourselves off to them.

In short, the language you use programs your brain to focus on specific aspects of your environment that align with your mindset.

So, if our words and thoughts create our reality, let’s be intentional and use them wisely.
